Ex Smokers For Fruity E-Liquids as Per Doctor's FDA Survey

There is no doubt about the fact that vaping is better than smoking. The reason why vaping is better than smoking is that unlike tobacco cigarettes, e cigarettes do not constitute of cancer-causing agent called tar. Electronic cigarettes only have regulated amounts of nicotine in them, which can also be found in inhalers so you are absolutely safe.
Vaping is not like tobacco cigarettes at all. As e cigarettes do not have the cancer-causing agent tar in them, they do not pose any harm to the vapers or the people around them. Unlike what majority people think, e liquids are not mysterious liquids either. They have VG, PG, nicotine and flavorings.
Countless studies and surveys have been done by researchers over the last couple of years to showcase that vaping is not like smoking and is not harmful in any way to the health of vapers. A few months ago. FDA made a regulation to limit the non-tobacco e liquid flavors. This decision was made by the FDA in response to their supposed belief that non-tobacco e liquid flavors are the reason why adolescents are getting increasingly addicted to vaping.
In response to this regulation, the public was given 60 days to give their feedback and comment about what they think of this regulation. One of the responses is a survey called Flavors Survey.
Dr Konstantinos Farsalinos is a famous cardiologist and a research fellow who has done several surveys and studies over the last years regarding vaping, electronic cigarettes and how it affect the health of vapers. The recent survey was conducted by Dr Farsalinos with his colleagues in the United States to get a clearer idea about what kind of e liquid flavors is popular among vapers.
Dr. Farsalinos is also been the lead author of the survey report. Rest of the team include Dr. Farsalinos’ two colleagues from University of Patras, located in Greece and a Dr. Christopher Russell, a researcher from the Centre for Substance Use Research in the UK.
While sharing his views about the survey and FDA regulation, Dr Farsalinos said, “A few months ago, the FDA announced an ANPRM for flavors in tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. They then opened a public comment docket where anyone could submit commentaries, opinions, proposals and data. As you may know, I am always trying my best to submit comments whenever there is this possibility, raising concerns and presenting potential problems with proposed regulations throughout the world. In this case, I also submitted a file which was NOT a comment or an opinion piece but the data from the big US Flavors survey that we completed in May.”
Approximately 70,000 Americans who have either vaped once or are currently vapers took part in the survey. The sample of the survey constituted of anyone who was older 18 years or older and could belong to any gender. The only limitations were that participants had to be living in the US and had used an e-cigarette at some point in their life.  Even those individuals who had vaped only once were also included in the survey. The survey was uploaded on FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant software so that participants can digitally take part in the survey and submit it.
The data, which has been analyzed and concluded from the survey will be later published in an academic journal. To assure no individual can fill the questionnaire more than once, from one American IP Address, the submission form could be submitted only once. Regardless of the precautions, duplicate entries were made, which is again not aberrant. The researchers were still left with 69, 233 responses at the end.
Individuals from all the 50 states of the United States and District of Columbia took part in the survey. It was found out that 72.4 percent of the participants were male. The mean age of the group was established to be 34.6. 95% of the participants of the survey had tried a tobacco cigarette in their life while 81.6% of the participants were proper smokers at a certain period of their life.
Some stats of the survey that are important to understand the results are: 81.3 percent of the participants were ex-smokers, while 68.2% of the individuals had quit smoking over 12 months ago.
The 2018 survey also showed that even vapers who are still smoking like to vape non-tobacco flavors. All of the groups in the survey preferred fruit flavors, candy/chocolate/sweet and bakery/dessert/pastry. Among ex-smokers,82.3 percent of participated likes to vape fruit flavor sometimes, while 72.3% liked dessert sometimes and 47.7% of the participants like candy flavor e juices.
Regardless of the fact that a participant was an ex-smoker or not, tobacco flavor remained the least favorite vaped flavor among vapers.
Dr. Farsalinos concluded, “In brief, we found extensive use of non-tobacco flavors among all smoking subgroups, including former smokers who were using e-cigarettes at the time of smoking cessation. Similar patterns were observed not only at e-cigarette use initiation but also at the time of smoking cessation and at the time of survey participation. Fruit and dessert/pastry/bakery flavors were the most prevalent choices of the adult established, dedicated US e-cigarette users who participated to this study.
It is expected that this survey of Dr. Farsalinos and his colleagues can help make the case stronger that non-tobacco e cigarette flavors are doing more good than damage. They are actively playing a crucial role in keeping ex-smoker from returning to smoking by giving them an alternate. The nicotine that makes smokers get addicted to tobacco cigarettes is also found in regulated amount in e cigarettes that keeps their nicotine urge in check and balance.
Only time will tell what the decision is but there’s no doubt in the fact that vaping is better smoking and actually beneficial for quitting smoking.
